You remember how the first practices of boy growing into a man was with your classmates? Female classmates I should say. That was how the boys stopped sweeping the classrooms, and other general class duties. Debate topics were now gender based: boys are better than girls, what a boy can do, a girl can do better (from the way this statement comes, you can tell the gender of the sayer) ,  boys are better at math etc 

Don’t forget the deceit of women are the weaker vessels, with all of woman’s education, her place is the kitchen… then came some the powerful empowerment programs for women crowned with the Beijing conference. What a beautiful time to be a growing girl child.  

All of the empowerment was effective. I must say the truth. So powerful that some mouths got sharper and clothings got smaller while the faces and hair got….ermmm… more enhanced. 

Okay. Cut to the chase.  

Morgan and I were heading to the bush house. One of those meetings at the bush house. Just at the point where we get into the bush path we were welcomed by a trail… fresh and very visible. A snake had just crossed. I look at Morgan, he looks at me “ Mau-mau, ladies first “ 

Nahhhhh not falling for this one.  Me? A Lasgidi babe like me. Warri no dey carry last only when a lagosian is not around.  Stepping into the bush path first simply means possibly getting the first snake bite, or whatever else might be lurking in the bushes. 

Not able to withstand my slow booting, Mau-mau nowwwww we’ll be late oo…
